§ 551. Construction. 1. The provisions of this chapter so far as they\nare substantially the same as those existing at the time they shall take\neffect, shall be construed as a continuation of such laws, modified or\namended, according to the language employed in this chapter, and not as\nnew enactments. References in laws not repealed to provisions of law\nrepealed, or transferred and enacted into and made a part of this\nchapter, shall be construed as applying to the provisions so\nincorporated.\n 2. All references in this chapter to articles, titles or sections\nshall, unless otherwise indicated in connection therewith, be deemed to\nrefer to the articles, titles or sections of this chapter; and, if so\nstated in connection therewith, to a subdivision of a section of this\nchapter. All references in any section of this chapter to a numbered\nsubdivision, or clause shall, unless otherwise indicated in connection\ntherewith, be deemed to refer to the subdivision, or clause so numbered\nor lettered in such section. All references in any article to a title\nshall, unless otherwise indicated in connection therewith, be deemed to\nrefer to the title so numbered in such article.\n
