§ 168. Definitions. As used in this title:\n  1. Veteran means a person who has served in the armed forces of the\nUnited States or who was a recipient of the armed forces expeditionary\nmedal, navy expeditionary medal or marine corps expeditionary medal for\nparticipation in operations in Lebanon from June first, nineteen hundred\neighty-three to December first, nineteen hundred eighty-seven, in\nGrenada from October twenty-third, nineteen hundred eighty-three to\nNovember twenty-first, nineteen hundred eighty-three, or in Panama from\nDecember twentieth, nineteen hundred eighty-nine to January\nthirty-first, nineteen hundred ninety, and who (a) has been honorably\ndischarged or released under honorable circumstances from such service\nor furloughed to the reserve, or (b) has a qualifying condition, as\ndefined in section one of the veterans' services law, and has received a\ndischarge other than bad conduct or dishonorable from such service, or\n(c) is a discharged LGBT veteran, as defined in section one of the\nveterans' services law, and has received a discharge other than bad\nconduct or dishonorable from such service.\n  2. Veteran organization means the:\n  (a) Grand Army of the Republic;\n  (b) United Spanish War Veterans;\n  (c) American Legion;\n  (d) Disabled American Veterans;\n  (e) Veterans of Foreign Wars of the United States;\n  (f) Jewish War Veterans of the United States, Incorporated;\n  (g) Catholic War Veterans, Incorporated;\n  (h) Army and Navy Union of the United States;\n  (i) Italian American War Veterans of the United States, Incorporated;\n  (j) Polish Legion of American Veterans, Incorporated;\n  (k) The Marine Corps League;\n  (l) Military Order of the Purple Heart, Inc.;\n  (m) Amvets.\n  (n) American Veterans of World War II;\n  (o) Veterans of World War I, U.S.A., Inc.\n  (p) Polish-American Veterans of World War II;\n  (q) Masonic War Veterans of the state of N.Y., Inc.;\n  (r) American Gold Star Mothers, Inc.;\n  (s) Regular Veterans Association, Inc.;\n  (t) Vietnam Veterans of America;\n  (u) Eastern Paralyzed Veterans Association;\n  3. Veteran assistance means safety net assistance given pursuant to\nthe provisions of this title, to the persons eligible therefor.\n
