§ 700. Election of the provisions of article fourteen by certain\nmembers. a. This section shall apply to a member of the New York state\nand local employees' retirement system who is in a title defined in\nsubdivision i of section eighty-nine of this chapter, which title was\nadded to such section on or after January first, nineteen hundred\neighty-seven and who joined or rejoined such system on or after July\nfirst, nineteen hundred seventy-six.\n b. A member may, by filing an election as specified in subdivision c\nof this section, elect to be subject to article fourteen of this chapter\nin its entirety and subject to none of the provisions of article fifteen\nof this chapter.\n c. Such election shall be in writing, shall be duly executed and filed\nwith the comptroller and shall be irrevocable as long as such member is\nin a title defined in subdivision i of section eighty-nine of this\nchapter. The election shall be filed on or before December thirty-first,\nnineteen hundred eighty-nine or within one year after such person\nbecomes employed in such title, whichever date is later.\n
