§ 180. Construction. a. An act of the legislature of the year\nnineteen hundred fifty-five or nineteen hundred fifty-six which, in\nform, amends or repeals or purports to amend or repeal any provision or\nprovisions of the supplemental pension act or of article four, five or\nsix of the civil service law, as in force immediately prior to July\nfirst, nineteen hundred fifty-six, shall be deemed and construed as an\namendment or repeal, as the case may be, of the corresponding provision\nor provisions of such act or law, as contained in this act.\n b. An act of the legislature of the year nineteen hundred fifty-five\nor nineteen hundred fifty-six which adds, or purports to add a new\nsection, subdivision or other provision of law to the supplemental\npension act or article four, five or six of the civil service law, as in\nforce immediately prior to July first, nineteen hundred fifty-six, shall\nbe deemed and construed as having been added to this act and shall be\ngiven full effect according to its context as if the same had been added\nexpressly and in terms to this act and shall be deemed and construed to\nhave been inserted in this act in the appropriate position in regard to\nand as modifying the effect of the corresponding provision or provisions\nof this act.\n
