§ 1538. Optional assignment of the responsibilities of the county\ndirector of real property tax services by the county of Rockland.\nNotwithstanding sections fifteen hundred thirty, fifteen hundred\nthirty-two, fifteen hundred thirty-six, and fifteen hundred thirty-seven\nof this title, the county of Rockland may assign other county officials\nthe powers and duties of the director of real property tax services\ngranted to such director pursuant to this title. Such county officials\nshall be appointed and have the same terms and conditions of office as\nthe director of real property tax services and shall meet all of the\nqualifications, training, orientation, and interim certification\nrequirements as the director of real property tax services pursuant to\nthis title. All powers, duties and other requirements of the director of\nreal property services pursuant to this title shall be assigned to such\nappropriate county officials appointed pursuant to this section. All\nreports or other information required to be filed in the office of the\ndirector of real property tax services pursuant to this title shall be\nfiled in the office of the appropriate official assigned to receive such\nmaterial by the county of Rockland. If the county of Rockland chooses to\navail itself of this section: (1) it must assign all of the powers and\nduties of the director of real property services pursuant to this title\nto other county officials; (2) the officials appointed by the county to\nfulfill the powers and duties of the director of real property tax\nservices must meet all of the qualifications, training, orientation, and\ninterim certification requirements, and uphold all of the\nresponsibilities of the director of real property tax services pursuant\nto this title; and (3) it shall not be required to maintain a real\nproperty tax service agency.\n
