* § 2053. Broome county sports center authority. A board to be known\nas "Broome county sports center authority" is hereby created. The board\nshall be a body corporate and politic constituting a public benefit\ncorporation, and its existence shall commence upon the appointment of\nthe members as herein provided. It shall consist of a chairman and four\nother members, all of whom shall be appointed by the local legislative\nbody of Broome county. The appointment of a chairman shall be for a term\nof six years, and of the other four members, two for a term of two\nyears, and two for a term of four years, respectively, from the first\nday of September, nineteen hundred sixty-eight. At the expiration of\nsuch terms the terms of office of their successors shall be six years.\nEach member shall continue to serve until the appointment and\nqualification of his successor. Vacancies in such board occurring\notherwise than by expiration of term shall be filled for the unexpired\nterm. The members of the board shall choose from their number a vice\nchairman. The local legislative body of Broome county may remove any\nmember of the board for inefficiency, neglect of duty, or misconduct in\noffice, giving him a copy of the charges against him and an opportunity\nof being heard in person, or by counsel, in his defense upon not less\nthan ten days' notice. Members of the board shall be entitled to no\ncompensation for their services, but shall be entitled to reimbursement\nfor their actual and necessary expenses incurred in the performance of\ntheir official duties. The powers of the authority shall be vested in\nand exercised by a majority of the members of the board then in office.\nThe board may delegate to one or more of its members or to its officers,\nagents and employees such powers and duties as it may deem proper. The\nboard, and its corporate existence, shall continue only for a period of\nnine years, and thereafter until all its liabilities have been met and\nits bonds have been paid in full or such liabilities or bonds have\notherwise been discharged, except that no additional liabilities may be\nincurred after the termination of its corporate existence. Upon its\nceasing to exist, all its rights and property shall pass to the County.\n * NB Authority dissolved September 1, 1977\n
