§ 243-a. Non-contributory retirement service credit for members of the\nNew York state and local retirement systems or the New York state\nteachers' retirement system called to active military duty on or after\nAugust first, nineteen hundred ninety. Notwithstanding any other\nprovision of law, any member of the New York state and local employees'\nretirement system, the New York state and local police and fire\nretirement system, or the New York state teachers' retirement system who\nis called to active military duty on or after August first, nineteen\nhundred ninety and prior to January first, nineteen hundred\nninety-three, who is not receiving full salary from a participating\nemployer and is otherwise eligible to receive retirement service credit\nin such system for such active military duty pursuant to section two\nhundred forty-two or two hundred forty-three of this article, shall not\nbe required to make member contributions to receive such credit.\n
