§ 861-b. Definitions. As used in this article:\n  1. "Construction" means constructing, reconstructing, altering,\nmaintaining, moving, rehabilitating, repairing, renovating or demolition\nof any building, structure, or improvement, or relating to the\nexcavation of or other development or improvement to land.\n  2. "Contractor" means any sole proprietor, partnership, firm,\ncorporation, limited liability company, association or other legal\nentity permitted by law to do business within the state who engages in\nconstruction as defined in this article.\n  3. "Contractor" includes a general contractor and a subcontractor.\n  4. "Department" means the department of labor.\n  5. "Commissioner" means the commissioner of labor.\n  6. "Employer" means any contractor that employs individuals deemed\nemployees under this article.\n
