One day of rest for state employees

§ 169-a. One day of rest for state employees. No person employed by\nthe state shall be required to work more than six days in any calendar\nweek, except in cases of fire, riot, flood, famine, pestilence or other\ncases of emergency endangering life or property; provided, however, that\nany such person, upon his own request and with the approval of the head\nof the department or institution in which he is employed, may be\npermitted to work one additional day in any calendar week for not more\nthan seven calendar weeks and be allowed continuous days free from duty\nequivalent to the number of additional days so worked. No person shall,\nby reason of the provisions of this section, receive any reduction in\nthe total weekly compensation paid him. This section shall not apply to\nofficers and members of the state police force.\n
