§ 214. Judicial conference of the state of New York. 1. The judicial\nconference of the state of New York is hereby continued. It shall\nconsist of the chief judge of the court of appeals who shall serve as\nchairman, the presiding justice of the appellate division of each\njudicial department, one trial justice of the supreme court from each of\nthe state's four judicial departments, one judge each of the court of\nclaims, the county court, the surrogate's court, the family court, the\ncivil court of the city of New York, the criminal court of the city of\nNew York, one judge of a city court outside the city of New York, one\njudge of a district court, one justice of a town or village court, and\nfrom each judicial department, one member of the bar of this state.\n 2. The chief judge of the court of appeals and the presiding justices\nof the appellate divisions shall be members of the judicial conference\nduring their respective terms of office. The other members shall be\nchosen by the judges of the courts on which they sit, except that the\nadministrative board of the courts shall appoint the members of the bar,\nand the justice from a town or village court.\n 3. The term of members of the judicial conference shall be for two\nyears, except as otherwise provided in subdivision two of this section.\nMembers shall be eligible for reappointment to the conference. A vacancy\noccurring otherwise than by expiration of term shall be filled in the\nsame manner as an original appointment for the unexpired term. A member\nshall not receive any compensation for serving on the judicial\nconference but shall be allowed his actual and necessary expenses\nincurred in the performance of his duties as a member.\n 4. The chairmen and the ranking minority members of each of the\ncommittees on judiciary and on codes of the senate and assembly shall be\nex officio members of the judicial conference.\n
