§ 57. Offering or giving bribes prohibited. Every person who shall\npromise, offer or give, or cause, or aid, or abet in causing to be\npromised, offered or given, or furnish, or agree to furnish, in whole or\nin part, to the president or to any councilor, peacemaker, or other\nofficer of the Seneca nation of Indians, any money, goods, right in\naction, or other property or any thing of value, or any pecuniary or\nother individual advantage, present or prospective, with intent to\ninfluence his vote, opinions, judgment or action, upon any question,\nmatter, cause or proceeding which may be pending, or may be brought\nbefore him in his official capacity, shall, upon such conviction, be\nimprisoned in the state prison not exceeding five years, or shall be\nfined not exceeding one thousand dollars, or both, in the discretion of\nthe court.\n
