§ 12-a. Indian cemetery or burial grounds. The office of parks and\nrecreation shall have the power to designate any Indian cemetery or\nburial ground as a place of historic interest pursuant to subdivision\none of section 3.09 of the parks and recreation law provided, however,\nthat such cemetery or burial ground is not located upon any Indian\nreservation located wholly or partly within the state. No person shall\ndestroy, alter, convert, or in any way impair any such cemetery or\nburial ground which has been so designated as a place of historic\ninterest or any artifact or other object thereon which is or may be of\nrelevance to the historic interest thereof without the prior express\nwritten permission of the office of parks and recreation.\n The attorney general, at the request of the office of parks and\nrecreation, is hereby authorized to institute an action in supreme court\nin the judicial district wherein such cemetery or burial ground is\nlocated to enjoin violations or threatened violations of this section.\n
