Establishment of temporary detours when state highways are being maintained or repaired

§ 42-a. Establishment of temporary detours when state highways are\nbeing maintained or repaired. Notwithstanding the provisions of section\none hundred four of this chapter, whenever in the maintenance or repair\nof a state highway, it is determined by the commissioner that it is\nnecessary to provide for a temporary detour over alternate roads,\nstreets, highways or routes, the commissioner shall have the power and\nauthority to establish such temporary detour over alternate roads,\nstreets, highways or routes as he deems necessary and proper for the\nprotection of the traveling public with the posting of conspicuous\nsigns, or use of flagmen, or a combination thereof, indicating such\ntemporary detour. Such temporary detour shall be adequate to prevent\nunreasonable delay in the movement of traffic on said state highway. As\nused herein "temporary detour" shall be a detour of an anticipated\nduration not to exceed two weeks.\n
