§ 291. Compensation of supervisor and town clerk. Notwithstanding the\nprovisions of section twenty-seven of the town law, members of boards of\nsupervisors shall be allowed and paid the compensation provided by law,\nfor services of members of boards of supervisors while serving as\nmembers of a committee known as the highway officials of the county,\npursuant to section one hundred and ninety-five of this chapter, or as\nmembers of a road or highway committee while visiting and inspecting a\nroad being constructed and improved under the provisions of section one\nhundred and ninety-four of this chapter and advising with the county\nsuperintendent of highways about the manner in which the work of such\nconstruction and improvement is being done or ought to be done, and its\nacceptance by the board, or as members of a highway committee in\nacquiring land for rights of way, or spoil banks, or for the purposes of\nobtaining gravel, stone or other material when required pursuant to the\nprovisions of sections thirty, thirty-one and thirty-two of this\nchapter.\n
