Paid leave for disaster service volunteers

* § 209-aa. Paid leave for disaster service volunteers. 1. Members of\nthe uniformed force of the fire department of the city of New York who\nare certified disaster service volunteers of the American red cross\nshall be granted leave from work with regular pay to participate in\nspecialized disaster relief operations upon written request for the\nservices of such members by the American red cross and upon the approval\nof the fire commissioner, which approval shall not be unreasonably\nwithheld.\n  2. The paid leave set forth in subdivision one of this section shall\nbe provided for a cumulative total of no more than one hundred days of\npaid leave for all participating members during any fiscal year of the\nfire department of the city of New York.\n  3. The fire department of the city of New York shall promulgate\nappropriate guidelines for the participation of members of the uniformed\nforce as certified disaster service volunteers of the American red cross\nwithin ninety days after the effective date of this section.\n  * NB There are 2 § 209-aa's\n
