Certificate to police officers and firefighters; free transportation; use of telegraph lines and telephones

§ 206. Certificate to police officers and firefighters; free\ntransportation; use of telegraph lines and telephones. The mayor of each\ncity of this state and the mayor of each incorporated village may issue,\nunder the seal of his or her office, to each police officer and\nfirefighter appointed by the duly-constituted authorities of such city\nor village, a certificate of the appointment and qualification of such\npolice officer and firefighter as such, and specifying the duration of\nhis or her term of office; and it shall thereupon be the duty of every\nstreet surface and elevated railroad company carrying on business within\nsuch city or village, to transport every such police officer and\nfirefighter free of charge while he or she is traveling in the course of\nthe performance of the duties of his or her office. Every telegraph or\ntelephone company engaged in business within such city or village, shall\nafford to such police officer and firefighter the use of its telegraph\nlines or telephones for the purpose of making and receiving reports and\ncommunications in the course of the performance of his or her official\nduties.\n
