§ 389-s. Manufacture and sale of seasonal and decorative lighting\nproducts containing lead. 1. When used in this title, "seasonal and\ndecorative lighting product" shall mean portable, plug-connected,\ntemporary-use lighting products and accessories that have a nominal\n120-volt input voltage rating.\n (a) Lighting products within the scope of this rule are\nfactory-assembled with push-in, midget or miniature screw base lamp\nholders connected in series or parallel, directly across the 120-volt\ninput.\n (b) Such lighting products include, but are not limited to lighted\ndecorative outfits such as wired holiday string lights, pre-lit\nartificial Christmas trees, plants, flowers or wreaths, stockings,\nstars, candles and light sculptures.\n 2. On each seasonal and decorative lighting product manufactured, sold\nor delivered by a manufacturer or distributed within this state after\nthe effective date of this section that contains an electrical cord\ncasing in which lead is present in a quantity greater than one hundred\nparts per million, there shall be printed thereon or attached thereto a\nwarning label.\n 3. Such warning label shall contain the following statement: "WARNING:\nHANDLING THE COATED ELECTRICAL WIRE OF THIS PRODUCT MAY EXPOSE YOU TO\nLEAD. WASH HANDS THOROUGHLY AFTER USE."\n 4. Any manufacturer who violates this section shall be subject to a\ncivil penalty of not more than five hundred dollars for each such\nviolation.\n
