§ 8352. Definition of athletic training. The practice of the\nprofession of athletic training is defined as:\n 1. The prevention, recognition, examination, evaluation, assessment,\nmanagement, treatment and rehabilitation of athletic injuries;\n 2. The recognition of illness and referral to the appropriate medical\nprofessional with implementation of treatment pursuant to physician's\norders;\n 3. Instruction to coaches, athletes, parents, medical personnel, and\ncommunities in the area of care and prevention of athletic injuries; and\n 4. The use of clinically appropriate therapeutic modalities and\ntechniques, including the use of:\n (a) Physical, chemical, and mechanical means including the use of\nheat, cold, light, air, water, sound, electricity, massage, mobilization\nas it relates to athletic training, including non-thrust mobilization,\nand exercise; and\n (b) Appropriate preventative and supportive devices and temporary\nsplinting or bracing.\n
