§ 3303. Applicability. 1. Except as otherwise provided in subdivision\ntwo of this section, this compact shall apply to the children of:\n (a) active duty members of the uniformed services as defined in this\ncompact, including members of the National Guard and Reserve on active\nduty orders pursuant to 10 U.S.C. sections 1209 and 1211;\n (b) members or veterans of the uniformed services who are severely\ninjured and medically discharged or retired for a period of one year\nafter medical discharge or retirement; and\n (c) members of the uniformed services who die on active duty or as a\nresult of injuries sustained on active duty for a period of one year\nafter death.\n 2. The provisions of this interstate compact shall only apply to local\neducational agencies as defined in this compact.\n 3. The provisions of this compact shall not apply to the children of:\n (a) inactive members of the national guard and military reserves;\n (b) members of the uniformed services now retired, except as provided\nin subdivision one of this section;\n (c) veterans of the uniformed services, except as provided in\nsubdivision one of this section; and\n (d) other United States department of defense personnel and other\nfederal agency civilian and contract employees not defined as active\nduty members of the uniformed services.\n
