§ 174. Penalties for connivance at escape. Any sheriff, constable or\njailer wilfully suffering any person so committed or re-committed,\npursuant to the foregoing sections, to escape, on conviction thereof, in\naddition to any other punishment the court may inflict, shall forfeit to\nthe trustees a sum equal to the whole amount of debts due to the\ncreditors of such debtor, not exceeding two thousand five hundred\ndollars.\n
