§ 909. Additional general duties of county clerks. The county clerk of\neach of the counties within the city of New York shall be clerk of the\nsupreme court within his respective county, and shall have power to\nselect, draw, summon and empanel grand and petit jurors in the manner\nand under the conditions now or hereafter prescribed by law, and shall\nhave such other powers and duties as shall be prescribed from time to\ntime by law. The powers conferred and the duties imposed upon county\nclerks by section six hundred sixty-one of this chapter shall be\nexercised and performed by the county clerk of the appropriate county\nand the county clerk shall, in the exercise and performance thereof, be\nsubject to the same liabilities and responsibilities, as are prescribed\nin said section.\n Nothing herein contained shall prohibit the county clerk of Kings\ncounty from performing any duty not in conflict with the aforesaid\nduties which has been or may be imposed by federal law, or from\nreceiving or retaining fees or other compensation provided by such law\nfor the performance of such duty.\n
