Canal officers not to be interested in floats, contracts, or hydraulic works

§ 110. Canal officers not to be interested in floats, contracts, or\nhydraulic works.  No public officer or employee connected with the care\nor management of the canal system shall be interested in any hydraulic\nwork dependent upon the canals for a supply of water or in any\ncommercial float navigating the canals, or directly or indirectly in any\ncontract on the canals as a contractor, surety or otherwise in his own\nname or in the name of any other person or either directly or indirectly\nderives any benefit from an expenditure upon the canal system beyond his\nestablished compensation. If any officer or employee shall, at any time\nwhile holding such office or employment, be or become so interested or\nderive any such benefit, he shall forfeit his office or position and be\ndischarged therefrom, and any contract in contravention hereof shall be\nvoid.\n
