§ 71-v. Labeling requirements. 1. The commissioner shall, by\nregulation, require that packaged foreign dairy products be labeled in\nsuch a manner that, at each stage of distribution within this state,\nsuch packaged foreign dairy product will be readily identifiable as\nbeing imported. The commissioner may, to the extent he deems\nappropriate, establish different labeling requirements for packaged\nforeign dairy products:\n a. of different types or classes;\n b. with different types of packaging;\n c. in different stages of distribution; and\n d. intended for delivery to different types or classes of users.\n 2. If the commissioner determines that, at any stage of distribution:\n a. the nature of the container or wrapping of a packaged foreign dairy\nproduct makes labeling impractical or inappropriate; and\n b. such packaged foreign dairy product will, by means other than\nlabeling, be identifiable by any person, other than a common carrier, to\nwhom such packaged foreign dairy product is displayed or delivered as\nbeing imported;\nhe may exempt such packaged foreign dairy product, at such stage of\ndistribution, from the labeling requirements established pursuant to\nsubdivision one.\n
