§ 7.05. Executive director. 1. The executive director heretofore\nappointed by the commissioner of education to be the head of the New\nYork state summer school of the arts shall continue in office. The\nexecutive director shall hold office at the pleasure of the commissioner\nof education and shall be subject to such rules and regulations as he\nmay prescribe.\n  2. The commissioner of education may appoint such deputies, directors\nand other officers, teachers, employees, agents, consultants and special\ncommittees as he may deem necessary for the proper implementation of\nthis article, prescribe their duties, fix their compensation and provide\nfor reimbursement of their expenses within the amounts available\ntherefor by appropriation. The executive director shall develop a\nprogram and plan for the establishment of a summer school of the arts in\nall branches of the arts whenever possible, and in accordance with the\nrules of such commissioner shall undertake all necessary action to\nexecute such program and plan in accordance with the provisions of this\nsection. The executive director shall undertake the necessary studies\nand evaluations and report to such commissioner for ways and means to\nimprove the summer school of the arts.\n  3. The executive director shall pursue a course of action in\nconnection with the performance of his duties and responsibilities to\nencourage and obtain the services, on a voluntary basis, of well-known\nand qualified artists and performers who have distinguished themselves\nin the visual and performing arts, and who by background, training and\nexperience can provide such essential services to the students within\nthe meaning and intent of this article.\n
