§ 61.01. Public entertainment on Sunday. All legitimate theatrical\nperformances, concert and recital dances, motion picture exhibitions, or\nother public exhibitions, exhibits, shows or entertainment on the first\nday of the week are prohibited, except as hereinafter provided.\n  Notwithstanding the provisions of this section, or of any general or\nlocal law, it shall be lawful to conduct or participate in any public\nentertainment on the first day of the week after five minutes past one\no'clock in the afternoon, to witness which the public is invited or an\nadmission fee is charged, either directly or indirectly, in a city, town\nor village as shall be permitted, by a local law or ordinance heretofore\nor hereafter adopted by the common council or other legislative body of\nthe city, town or village, permitting the same on such day and after\nsuch hour. If in any city, town or village concert or recital dances,\nmotion pictures or legitimate theatrical productions are now exhibited\non the first day of the week, they may continue to be so exhibited\nduring such times as the exhibition of such dances, pictures,\nproductions and performances shall not have been prohibited by a local\nlaw or ordinance heretofore or hereafter adopted by the common council\nor other legislative body of such city, town or village.\n
