A. The secretary of corrections may enter into an agreement with the board of regents of the New Mexico military institute under which the institute would offer corrections education scholarships to New Mexico residents interested in careers in corrections. The agreement may provide criteria for recruiting scholarship applicants and awarding scholarships and for internship programs at corrections department facilities for scholarship recipients. B. Subject to available appropriations, the secretary of corrections may transfer funds each fiscal year to the board of regents of the New Mexico military institute for the scholarship program for New Mexico residents interested in careers in corrections. History: Laws 2005, ch. 163, § 2. Effective dates. — Laws 2005, ch. 163 contained no effective date provision, but, pursuant to N.M. Const., art. IV, § 23, was effective June 17, 2005, 90 days after adjournment of the legislature.
