The secretary may create, access, maintain and otherwise manage a criminal records database that merges criminal records data from multiple databases and gives courts and law enforcement agencies access to comprehensive criminal background records of criminal suspects and defendants. History: Laws 2016, ch. 10, § 1. Effective dates. — Laws 2016, ch. 10 contained no effective date provision, but, pursuant to N.M. Const., art. IV, § 23, was effective May 18, 2016, 90 days after the adjournment of the legislature.
