Except as otherwise authorized by the board, the board is the sole authority for the registration of brands, marks or electronic identification on livestock in this state. The 1999 amendment, effective July 1, 1999, recompiled this section which was formerly 77-9-8 NMSA 1978 and deleted "livestock" preceding "board" in the section heading, and rewrote the section, which formerly read "The livestock board is the sole board for the registration of brands and marks on horses, mules, asses, cattle and sheep in this state."
