The amount of money to be expended by the board in any one year, is limited to the amount set forth in a budget approved by the department of finance and administration. The 1993 amendment, effective June 18, 1993, rewrote this section to the extent that a detailed comparison is impracticable. The 1981 amendment added the catchline and the second sentence and, in the first sentence, substituted "it is" for "they are" and "it" for "they" following "as."
