The department shall file each application received for registration of a vehicle. When satisfied as to the genuineness and regularity of the application and that the applicant is entitled to register the vehicle and to the issuance of a certificate of title, the department shall register the vehicle described and keep a suitable record thereof. History: 1953 Comp., § 64-3-9, enacted by Laws 1978, ch. 35, § 29; 1995, ch. 135, § 10. The 1995 amendment, effective June 16, 1995, deleted former Subsections A through D providing the ways to keep a suitable record, and rewrote the remainder of the section.
