As used in the Family Representation and Advocacy Act: A. "at risk of being placed" means conditions within a child's family may require the child be removed from the custody of a parent, custodian or guardian and placed in the legal custody of the children, youth and families department; B. "client" means: (1) an eligible adult pursuant to the Fostering Connections Act [Chapter 32A, Article 26 NMSA 1978]; (2) a child who is, or is at risk of, being placed in the legal custody of the children, youth and families department; or (3) a parent, custodian or guardian of a child who is, or is at risk of, being placed in the legal custody of the children, youth and families department; C. "commission" means the family representation and advocacy commission that provides oversight of the office of family representation and advocacy; D. "director" means the director of the office of family representation and advocacy; and E. "office" means the office of family representation and advocacy. History: Laws 2022, ch. 51, § 2. Effective dates. — Laws 2022, ch. 51 contained no effective date provision, but, pursuant to N.M. Const., art. IV, § 23, was effective May 18, 2022, 90 days after adjournment of the legislature.
