Chapter 26, Article 2C NMSA 1978 may be cited as the "Cannabis Regulation Act". History: Laws 2021 (1st S.S.), ch. 4, § 1; 2024, ch. 38, § 1. The 2024 amendment, effective July 1, 2024, changed "Sections 1 through 42 of this act" to "Chapter 26, Article 2C NMSA 1978". Temporary provisions. — Laws 2021 (1st S.S.), ch. 4, § 71 provided: A. The legislative finance committee shall study the fiscal and economic impacts of the Cannabis Regulation Act for fiscal years 2023 through 2027 and provide a report to the revenue stabilization and tax policy committee on or before December 1, 2027. B. The report shall include: (1) the impacts on budgets and staffing of the regulation and licensing department and the department of health; (2) the impacts on general fund revenue and expenses; (3) the impacts on potential funds created by the Cannabis Regulation Act; (4) the impacts on the medical cannabis program; (5) the impacts on local and state law enforcement; and (6) the economic impact on the state, including: (a) job creation; (b) tourism; and (c) other economic impacts.
