There is established in the department a "vital records and health statistics bureau" for the purpose of installing, maintaining and operating a system of vital statistics throughout this state and carrying out all regulations relating to vital records and health statistics established by the department. History: 1953 Comp., § 12-4-25, enacted by Laws 1961, ch. 44, § 3; 1973, ch. 264, § 2; 1977, ch. 253, § 27; 1981, ch. 309, § 2; 2009, ch. 215, § 11. The 2009 amendment, effective January 1, 2010, deleted "health services division of the" before "department" and changed "vital statistics bureau" to "vital records and health statistics bureau".
