The purpose of the Teacher Loan Repayment Act is to increase the number of teachers in designated high-risk teacher positions in public schools through an educational loan repayment program. The act provides for repayment of the principal and reasonable interest accrued on loans obtained from the federal government for teacher education purposes. History: Laws 2013, ch. 177, § 2. Effective dates. — Laws 2013, ch. 177 contained no effective date provision, but, pursuant to N.M. Const., art. IV, § 23, was effective June 14, 2013, 90 days after the adjournment of the legislature.
