It is the purpose of the Technical and Vocational Institute Act to extend state support to public school vocational and technical education programs of not more than two years' duration designed to fit individuals for employment, provided such individuals are students enrolled in a technical and vocational institute organized pursuant to the Technical and Vocational Institute Act. The 1999 amendment, effective July 1, 1999, deleted the first sentence, which set out the findings in support of the act and substituted "the Technical and Vocational Institute Act" for "this act" near the beginning.
