54:45-2. Records Every person, who, within this State, shall manufacture, import, distribute, transport, store, warehouse, sell or offer for sale alcoholic beverages, or who shall engage in purchasing, transferring, agreeing to sell or selling warehouse receipts, receipts, certificates, contracts or other documents given upon the storage of alcoholic beverages, or who is the holder of a license permitting the doing of any such acts, shall keep complete and accurate records of all alcoholic beverages purchased, sold, manufactured, improved, brewed, fermented, distilled, produced, stored, warehoused, withdrawn from storage, imported or transported and of all warehouse receipts, receipts, certificates, contracts or other documents given upon the storage of alcoholic beverages. Such records shall be of a kind and in the form prescribed by the director and shall be safely preserved for 3 years in such a manner as to insure permanency and accessibility for inspection by the director or any duly authorized employee of said director. The director may, by regulation, require that any of such records shall be so preserved for an additional period, not exceeding 2 years. All such records shall be kept and maintained in this State, but the director may, in his discretion, permit the records of any such person to be kept and maintained at a place outside of this State to be designated by him.
