52:27BB-46. Inspection of local administration The director may at any time during regular business hours make inspections and examinations of the financial administration of a county or municipality. Inspection and examination may extend to the use of the uniform accounting system; accounting methods; the collection, custody and disbursement procedure; a selective audit of particular funds and accounts; and to any other matter or practice subject to regulation by the board, or regulated by any State law which is administered by the division. Reports of inspection and examination shall be certified to the local governing body together with instructions for the correction of procedures or practices found not to be in accordance with the requirements of law or of the regulations of the board. Instructions of the director shall fix a date for compliance by the local governing body. On or before the date for compliance the local governing body shall give effect to the instructions and shall so certify to the director. L.1947, c. 151, p. 660, s. 46.
