48:12-59. Protection of electrified third rail at grade crossings Any company operating a railroad in this state on which the cars are operated by electric current by means of a third rail at or near grade, shall securely cover said rail with wood or other nonconducting material for seventy-five feet on each side of all grade crossings, leaving only sufficient opening for contact by the shoe or other apparatus used to convey the electric current from said rail to the cars.
