43:2-1. Transfer upon certain changes of office or employment Any officer or employee who is a member of and entitled to benefits in any retirement system or pension fund operated wholly or partly by the state, and in which system or fund the member contributes thereto, including employees of municipalities and counties who have or shall become members of any such system or fund, may transfer his membership to another retirement system upon accepting an office or position in another branch of service and thereby make it possible for him to participate in the other system, when such transfer of office or employment would make it impossible for him to continue in the retirement system or pension fund of which he has been a member.
