43:10-74. Retirement for service and age In any first class county of this state any person who shall now or hereafter have served as sergeant at arms or court crier for a period of twenty years and shall have reached the age of sixty years, shall, upon application in writing to the board of chosen freeholders of the county, be retired on half pay. In the computation of period of service under this article any sergeant at arms or court crier who shall have heretofore or hereafter served as court attendant prior to his promotion or appointment as sergeant at arms or court crier shall be given credit for his years of service as such court attendant.
