40:56-53. House connections; cost assessed In constructing sewers the governing body may lay or cause to be laid the necessary house connections from such sewer to the curb line of any street in which the same is laid. In that case such work shall be specified in the ordinance providing for the construction of the sewer and a map showing such connections shall be prepared and exhibited at any hearing held by the governing body. The cost of such connection shall be assessed against the lot or plot benefited.
