40:23-6.26. Contracts with municipalities for services or facilities by counties over 500,000 population The board of chosen freeholders of any county having a population in excess of 500,000, by resolution, may provide for the entering into a contract by the said county with any municipality located in such county, or with 2 or more such municipalities acting jointly to provide for the furnishing by the county to such municipality or municipalities with any service or facility which the said municipality or municipalities may otherwise lawfully furnish or provide to the inhabitants thereof or to others. The entering into any such contract by the municipality or municipalities shall be authorized by an ordinance or ordinances adopted by the governing body or bodies of said municipality or municipalities.
