39:4-31. Violations of article; fine A person violating a provision of this article shall, upon conviction thereof, pay such fine as may be imposed by the court, not exceeding one hundred dollars ($100.00) for each violation. In default of the payment thereof, the court imposing the fine may cause him to be imprisoned in the county jail of the county for a term not exceeding ninety days. The fine shall be paid over to the board or body charged with the maintenance of the road or highway upon which the violation occurs.
