2A:67-4. Prisoner not to be removed except in certain cases 2A:67-4. No person committed to a prison or in the custody of an officer or other person for a criminal or supposed criminal matter shall be removed from such prison or custody into the custody of any other officer or person, except: a. By habeas corpus or other legal writ or process; or b. Where he is delivered to another officer in accordance with law; or c. Where he is sent by order of a court, judge or magistrate to a workhouse or house of correction; or d. Where he is removed to another place, within the county, for his trial or discharge in due course of law; or e. In case of sudden fire or infection or other necessity.
