2A:158A-15.2. Pilot project Within 30 days of the effective date of this section, the Administrative Office of the Courts shall establish a system in one or more counties and the Assignment Judge, through a designated judge or court support office shall be responsible for making eligibility determinations for the services of the Office of the Public Defender in that county. The purpose of the pilot project is to enable the Judiciary to develop a program for Statewide implementation and to gauge the fiscal impact of assuming responsibility for making eligibility determinations.
