2A:157-10.4 Charges, suspension, with or without pay. 5. Notwithstanding any other law to the contrary, whenever a county investigator is charged with an offense, under the laws of this State, another state, or the United States, the investigator may be suspended from performing his duties, with pay, until the case against the investigator is disposed of at trial, the complaint is dismissed, or the prosecution is terminated; provided, however, that if a grand jury returns an indictment against the investigator, or the investigator is charged with a crime of the first, second or third degree or which involves moral turpitude or dishonesty, the investigator may be suspended from his duties, without pay, until the case against him is disposed of at trial, the complaint is dismissed, or the prosecution is terminated.
