26:6-58.4. Findings, declarations 1. The Legislature finds and declares that: there is a need to increase the number of suitable organs recovered and transplanted in New Jersey, and that toward that end, and in the interest of cost-effective health care delivery, medical professionals and technicians should be trained as transplant recovery specialists and should be enabled to perform the recovery of human body parts within licensed hospitals, independent of physician supervision. Recovery and transplantation will be further increased by the requirement that acute care hospitals provide federally designated organ procurement organizations with information concerning each death, and the accompanying medical information necessary for the organization to complete an audit in accordance with federal law.
