18A:36-24. Missing children; legislative findings and declarations The legislature finds and declares: a. That there is a growing recognition of the prevalence and consequences of child abuse. b. That the removal of children from school constitutes a deprivation in itself and may be an indicator of even more grievous abuses. c. That the public schools can and should provide an early warning to the appropriate authorities when a child appears to be missing from the educational system. L.1984, c. 228, s. 1, eff.
