18A:29-5.2. Findings, declarations The Legislature finds and declares that: a. Attracting and retaining the most able individuals to the profession of teaching is critical to the future welfare of our State and our citizens. b. The starting salary levels for new teachers have fallen significantly behind the starting salaries paid to other recent college graduates. c. A competitive starting teacher salary is an additional means of attracting and retaining outstanding individuals in the teaching profession. L. 1985, c. 321, s. 2, eff.
