New Hampshire Code § 540:24

Recognizance, by Plaintiff

The plaintiff, before his appeal is allowed, shall recognize to the defendant, with sufficient sureties, in such sum as the court may order, to enter and prosecute his appeal, and to pay such costs as may be awarded against him.
